ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture can help children, infants, teenagers adults and elderly.

Acupuncture is the insertion of very thin needles in specific points along the meridians of the body to balance the flow of Qi. It is part of a complete medical system and integrated approach to health maintenance and treatment of disease, along with its various accompanying modalities such as Moxibustion, Cupping, Blood-letting, Electrical Acupuncture.

The acupuncture points are chosen based on specific functions they have in regulating the body’s function. They will vary from person to person. Based on the assessment made from the history, pulse and tongue diagnosis, the imbalances within the organs are treated, by improving circulation within the specific meridian systems that run along pathways throughout the entire body.

Only DISPOSABLE NEEDLES are used in our clinic.

Most people are surprised to learn that acupuncture needles are very thin and often the insertion is barely perceptible. You may feel a slight tingling either around the needle or traveling up or down the affected meridian. During and after treatments, most patients feel extremely relaxed and refreshed. Many even fall  asleep during their treatment.

Because each person is unique and types of conditions differ, the number of treatments vary. A course of treatment may take between four to eight sessions. In order to get the best therapeutic results. It is recommended for patients to come for a few treatments once a week initially.

For very acute cases, it may be more beneficial to come twice a week at first. Once symptoms improve, the treatments can be spaced out more and then patients can continue for overall health balance and prevention.

Chronic cases may require several months of treatment for best results because most of these cases require more effort to restore their energy balance.

For health maintenance, periodic treatments of once every three – four weeks is recommended. This helps the internal organs to function in a continuous balanced condition and improves the whole body’s physiological ability.

Initial consultation and treatment can take one and a half to two hours. A complete medical history is taken, an oriental medical diagnosis is made, treatment is administered, and if necessary an herbal prescription is recommended and prepared.

Follow-up visits typically take 55 minutes.

Various Modalities Include:

Electrical Acupuncture is the placement of electricity at the needled points to enhance the treatments effectiveness by producing a higher and more continuous level of stimulation. It is used for conditions such as pain, numbness, post-stroke.
